Creating Stories with Children

Creating Stories with Children shows how to help children to make up their own stories in English. It encourages creativity, confidence, and fluency and accuracy in spoken and written English; it also introduces creative writing skills by showing children how to structure stories.
The first chapter, ‘Story warmers’, puts children in a ‘story-making frame of mind’. There are also sections on descriptive language, text construction, ‘Retelling’, ‘The craft of storytelling’, ‘Beginnings and endings’, and ‘Sorting and sequencing’. Children are encouraged to display and ‘publish’ their work through a section on making books.
